A Genwunner's Hypocracy 11

I try to cut down on the amount of these I post, but the lack of common sense among some people I have to share this fandom with knows no bounds.

And that's supposed to be a Forever Alone Machoke, in case you couldn't tell by my lazy MS Paint-style edits.

Anyway, this argument is probably a few months late, but I never really saw it addressed in full. So many people lashed out against the Fairy type, saying it should have been Light type. Well, ignoring the fact that "Light type" makes even less sense than Sound type, people seem to not understand just where the Dark type stems from and why it came to be.

For those of you who don't know, Dark type was called the Evil type in Japan. Those arguing who do know this claim that Light type should serve as a "good guy" counter to the Dark type, possibly being called the Pure type or Good type in Japanese. However, this is where they get their reasoning a little backwards. You see, Dark type doesn't need a counter because, as far as I can see, it was introduced AS a counter. A counter specifically tailored to match the Fighting type. As far as I'm concerned, Fighting is the closest to a "good guy" type as one can get. It beats Dark because good defeats evil. It beats Rock, Ice and Steel because superheroes have superhuman strength. It beats Normal because they are superior to regular people. They resist Bug and Dark because they are brave. Honestly I'd have to stretch a bit to explain their weaknesses, but as far as I'm concerned, Psychic beats Fighting because superheroes are mostly physical and aren't skilled in dealing with psychic properties and Flying beats Fighting because...they could get hit by things flying through the air.

Okay, I get this is pretty subjective, but I never thought that Dark type needed a counter. Fairy was meant to take Dragon types down a notch and boost Steel and Poison types, which were a bit weak beforehand.
